Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy, I just discovered this place--have you guys been hiding it from me or what? ;)

Gacountry, I just finished eating breakfast (yes, I eat at very odd hours!!) but reading what you fixed for lunch now has me famished again!! My mouth is watering like crazy!!! Nothing like good old Southern cooking--I'll be at your house next Sunday after church, okay? LOL! (And I'm really sorry somebody said nasty things to you--I promise to be nice to you always so you will be willing to feed me. :D )

So far it looks nice here this morning but we've got a chance of thunderstorms all week long---bah humbug!! Always happens when the temperature starts going up! :cuss:

I really need at least two houses--one in the Northern Hemisphere (to live in during the winter) and one in the Southern Hemisphere (to live in during the summer--our summer, I mean--this gets confusing!!) :o

Anyway....hello everybody! :seeya:

Hi Guys,
Just introducing myself. My name is Charmaine. I live in country South Australia in a place called Napperby which is located at the base of the Southern Flinders Ranges. It's very pretty here and I have a great life with my partner, my three girl, my horses and my dog. I love the Crime Library site and check it out most days. My family think that is a little weird but the dark side of human nature fascinates me. Anyway, just saying hello and letting you guys know I'm a complete newbie at this so please be patient!! :seeya:

Good Morning Friends.
We have received some much needed rain and now the humidity is through the roof, ahhhhhhhh but wait this is South Georgia this is how we are suppose to be! I have been trying to think of a special treat today to tempt your taste buds but the only thing I could think of that would not get me in trouble with Jeevers was (now here is where you close your eyes and let your senses take over):
Home made Vanilla Bean Ice Cream served with old fashion Tea Cakes. I will begin dishing this up around 3 PM so everyone drop by for a dish of heaven.

LOL I just dropped in to see if you and May got rain today! Good to see that you did and we did too!:D What a blessing.

Well I know I am too late for that scrumptious Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. That stuff goes quicker than ya can bat your eyes!;)

I have had computer problems or broadbank problems for the past few days and I am frazzled!!! I am addicted to this board and my computer and when I can't use them I get upsot!! But maybe I am back in bussiness.

Now welcome to all the newbies I am the resident chef and if you have special dietary request I expect them in post haste. I am better than Paula Deen and use even more butter and real cream so be warned lol.

My I also recommend you get your slipper request into MayBaby she is the greatest! jeeves is getting a tad bit slack but we love him to bits so just asked around IF you need anything.

There are several Southern Gals around here so you might need to reference the "Redneck Dictionary" in the entrance hall. I am not as refined as the other Gals and I might get a little back woodies in my dialect. It's just a South Ga. thang.

Any suggestions for our after dinner snacks and drinks tonight? Oh I forgot to thank my friend for all the ice cream recipes I do love home made icecream. Made 3 churns Sunday for my Daughter~In~Love's (can't abide the word in-law) Birthday Pool Party.

Hi Jake!

Welcome to the board. I love tattoos...I got my one and only about 20 years ago...I was out and about with a friend and we both decided we were gonna get one...think alcohol may have been involved...anyhow, when all was said and done, I was the one with the tattoo...It's a large multi-colored parrot on my right shoulder...I love it now just as much as I did when I first got it...Most of the time, I forget it's there...Yours is beautiful and appears very detailed...How many do you plan to get or how much body area do you plan to cover? Sorry for being so curious...just can't help myself...

Hello to Celtic and welcome!! I think your our first guy! (I think)

I have 3 tatties I think it comes with the younger generation, as a more popular trend, I see a lot more younger people with more tats. I'm obsessed with black leopards, so I have 4 large leopard prints walking up my right side of my thigh to my hip, green eyes of a black leopard and a nose on the back of my neck (where the neck meets the tailbone) and two hearts on my foot. I strategically place them with consideration for pregnancy and old age! I hope I like them just as much as when I'm 60! I'm sure I will, I also forget they are there.

I've also appointed myelf bartender! Who needs a drink!!!! I DO! lol

OH My Jake, it suddendly dawned on me you being new and me being so blunt and southern plain spoken you might think my posting about tats is disrespectful~~~NO I really like them and admire anyone that can gettem, Me I am a chicken and my dad was so strict when I was a teen I did not have that option lol. You go for it if you can keep an artist as good as the one that did your back you are lucky indeed. Hi Mishell!

Your tats sound beautiful, especially the prints walking up your thigh...I've never seen anything like that...And that was good thinking on the placement. I put mine where I could always cover it, if need be...

True story here my Granddaughter is 5 and has this new found death complex. She thinks if a person is over 35 they are old and dying. Well friends I am a day or two past that. She was having a heart to heart girly girl talk with me a few weeks ago and she looked at me so sweet and said:
"Granny you are getting old, your gonna die."
I said " No baby I am not old"
she said "yes you are you have wrinkles and your gonna die and I will miss you so much"
I wanted to be diplomatic and save my pride and reassure her that death would come but not tomorrow so I said " Honey for every wrinkle you see it is where a laugh or smile once was, your daddy makes me happy then you came alone and I smile a lot"
She sorta smiled and looked at me real serious and said " But Granny does your legs smile?"
This is a true story I have more wrinkles now cause I have laughed my hiney off thinking about what comes from the mouth of my Farmer Princess Granddaughter>

Go with the stick-on kind. Needles aren't an option and you can change them any time you like. :D So nice to see you Chocoholic! There's a thought :) My hubby suggested using a permanent marker to join my beauty spots...then seeing what evolves from it. Goofball!

Hi folks,

I thought I would just pop into the Lounge to say hello (this being my second post on the boards).

Scrolling and reading through the posts on this thread it appears you are an eclectic lot, quite friendly (but strange in a nice sort of way :) ).

I have just got in from work, a long day of paperwork - continuity of evidence is so important - after a single burglary scene! (I may jest about continuity of evidence and paperwork, but I always appreciate it when I am standing in the box at court).

I hope to get to know you all over the weeks to come, this forum appears to be a great place to chill out after a hard days work - from what I have seen of the threads I have browsed so far!

Take care.

Yes there is something in particular.
Is there any significance to a Celtic harp and would carving dead peoples names into it be something from Celtic tradition?
Thanks.

Shill : Sorry its taken me so long to reply I am on days off but have been working overtime night shifts so sleeping a lot as well .. I am not very conversant in the Celtic Harp only because I identify myself as more of a Germanic Celt from around the Black-Forest area in Germany ( which is why dragons and serpents figure prominently in my tattooing ) …my grandfather’s father was a Norwegian Fisherman who immigrated to Australia somewhere around 1880-1890 and my Grandmothers People were Celts from the Germanic region Arriving here in Australia around the same time my Grandfather was the middle child in a family of 7 boys and 3 girls and my Grandmother was the 2nd youngest in a family of 11 boys and 7 girls with 4 sets of twins and one set of triplets although bye January 1947 only 13members of Grandmothers family where still alive and 7 members of my Grandfather's WW1 and WW2 were periods of great sacrifice for my family ..so I always consider myself Celtic in heritage but I am half Viking in reality …anyways enough genealogy I am sure its really boring to other peoples family stories … this what is what I know about the Celtic Harp
: “In ancient times, harpers were the counselors of kings and were given the chair of honors, titles and wealth for their services. In Ireland, the harpers were consulted before going to war and often lead the troops to battle with his harp All Gaelic peoples liked to decorate their harps with intricate carving and designs. Celtic harps can be found on carvings dating as far back as the 12th century, with surviving examples of actual instruments dating back to the 15th.
The harp legend tells us that Dagda, a chief among the Taatha De Danaan, owned the first Gaelic harp. However, the harp was stolen by the gods of cold and darkness and given to the Fomorians, a group at war with the Taatha. Seeing this, the gods of light and art, Lugh and Ogma, entered the Fomorian fortress, recovered the harp, and restored it to Dagda.
The gods then gave Dagda two secret names for the harp and called forth summer and winter. From then on Dagda could play Goltrai, Geantrai, and Suantrai...Music that could make men weep, music that brought joy, and music that lulled men to sleep. Thus, Celtic harps became known as the dispensers of sorrow, happiness, and rest.
In the days of the Celtic chieftains, the harpist was the most honored musician and ranked only behind chiefs and bards in social class. The harpists, often blind, would play as the bards recited poetry for their lords. And, when war came, the harpist would bring forth a golden instrument encrusted with fine jewels in order to lead men into battle and spur them to great deeds.”
So if you were going to get a Tattoo then I guess if the names you want inside the scrolling on the harps are of people that inspired you or bought you hope and joy in life the symbolic use of a harp would be good ..I know that Celtic harpers carved things into there harp bodies for decoration, and to add power to the music but I am unsure of the use of names of people who had died …it’s a symbol of wisdom and giving …good luck with it …bye for now blessing be to all …

I will contribute one of my Favorite Aussie recipes seeing as GaC is away ...Herb and Garlic Rolled Leg of Lamb
Big leg of Lamb boned and cut flat like pastry (ok ask your butcher if your not sure how)
you need a couple of table spoons of Crushed Garlic ,some fresh Rosemary and Mint , sesame oil some sea salt ..ok first off you have to get a few things for the rolling ready like some big metal skewers about 12 inches long sharp on one end and blunt on the other and I use a butchers needle but you can just poke the string through with one of the skewers if you don’t have one …I also bag mine with some butchers netting but tying it works just as well .
Now comes the fun bit I take the boned leg of lamb and I lay it flat on the bench I smear it liberally with the garlic an then sprinkle the sea salt on topped bye the fresh Rosemary and mint leaves crushed or rubbed between your hands on top of the lot then comes the rolling fold one edge over to the middle and pull the back edge back towards you, skewer it in place to get it nice and tight work the skewers forward a bit taking small bites at a time with the skewers until it sort of looks like a log then I tie it and bag it and its ready for the oven I find slow cooking at about 140’celcious to be the best or I often cook in the outdoor oven, that gives the meat a nice flavor as well if you use charcoal and some wood shavings …so while that’s cooking I peel some potatoes and pumpkin for roasting wash some carrots and broccoli and corn for steaming and get ready to make a gravy I always use the pan juice to make my gravy and flour to thicken it …serves 8 with heaps of left overs for crib the next day ..a nice bottle of red if your partial to that and your dinner guests will love it guaranteed ..bon apitete groover

I looked them up. I think they are similar to hash browns. I was watching a programme about the Duggar family and they said their favourite dish was a tater tot casserole. I assumed it was baby potatoes (tater = potato and tot = small/baby). If I'm in a hurry, I sometimes make a microwave hotpot with baby potatoes, casserole steak, tomatoes, onions and carrots in it. I can't imagine a casserole with hash browns in it.

I'm like you. I have an aversion to processed food/ready meals. As you say - emergencies only. I quite like Heinz spaghetti hoops though.

Hello all My best buds and long time friends. The Lake was wonderful just what I needed to make me feel alive again. I do have a bruise or two and am a tiny bit red, sorta like a lobster, but ahhh it was worth it. The kids had a blast and one of us responsible adults got a ticket with a jet ski, no way will I reveal that one but it was a hoot, sometimes the oldest in the crowd thinks they are the youngest.

Now I have came back to Froggy having had surgery and Dallavic missing, this is not good I worry bout my chilun when they are outta place, but I put all the blame on Jeevers!

Now to the serious part of my morning post, what is all this craziness concerning Merrick, Brooklyn and that crowd on the Tara board? If this stuff they are posting on Merrick board is not true they should be ashamed. I personally think IF there is anything to it FreshWater should have handled it and left all the insults and nastiness out of it. Lord, if this is not so how could they?

I dont know the facts behind the scandal unfolding but ...its definately an interesting read ...I find it facinating to watch how people interact with each other in this virtual world we all inhabit from time to time ...
I think its long been known that the internet is the perfect medium for the cyber version of "Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome" why not kill off imaginary peoples you can not face jail or end up on death row for knocking off someone eho dosent exsit ...because even emoticons can make someone who is yearning for some attention feel a lot better about themselves ...A long time ago ...not in a galaxy far far away but in an Australian webbased chat channel there was a lady who claimed to have a twin sister and over a 12-14 month period slowly but surely killed her "twin" off with an ever increasing number of disasters ..it was quiet interesting to watch unfold though uterly in-concieverble some of the users there were devestated when they realised it was all a hoax bye someone seaking attention ...I think the lesson is to take things how they come and not to let the cyber world impose its self over the real world ...use it as a medium for education and entertainment ....be well all bye for now ...3 X 12 hour night shifts to go then 7 days off in Darwin where it never gets colder than 76F its the middle of winter here and I still spend most mornings after work in the spa on the deck .......*sigh* Its a hard job but someones got to do it ...:seeya:

This is interesting, and highly relevant, IMO. Thanks for sharing.

In this situation with Merrick/BrookLyn, et al., the lines got crossed when she made personal contact with certain people - instead of keeping her sickness online and imaginary. That opened the door for further examination, and all that started falling out of the closet was sickening and incredible. I think there are many people who live online and have a different life on the monitor screen than in reality - and that is certainly their right. However, when you take advantage of people, victimize peoples' emotions, lie for personal and/or financial gain, and otherwise sacrifice decency and humanity for the sake of attention - it needs to be stopped, and such a person needs serious help. JMO.

I want the situation to be a lesson for everyone, friend or foe, about how people take advantage of others and how the internet is not a place to ever, ever let your guard down.

Yep I eat spaghetti hoops on toast (and it's as common a snack here as baked beans on toast). Having said that, I expect you'd get the same reaction from Brits if you suggested they might want to eat peanut butter and jelly together in a sandwich. Now I happen to know this is good but only because my Hubby forced me to try it at a restaurant in Disney's Magic Kingdom. Prior to that my reaction was "YUCK!"

I apologise if my post before seamed harsh or impersonal , I was only trying to impart that there is and always have been people in online communities who will take advantage of peoples kindness ...I first found the nett and online communities when I was working in Africa in the mid 90's on an oil rig ..we worked 8 weeks on and 2 weeks off and they had the nett in a little cafe in the City we had R&R in , I was kinda friendly with a girl who worked there and she introduced me to MIRC chat ..what an eye opener that was I talked to and made intimate friendships with people from all over the world from the USA and Canada ..to the UK and Europe ...I met a lot of my chat friends to while working for some of the multinational companies I have taken salaries off ..It was like having an extended family and never having had a proper family I felt like I belonged ..anyways that enough I tend to write too much in posts on night shift , but 12 hours is a long time to stare at a flashing a screen and press the ooops button once and a while ...*wink*
As to the dietry choice ...I am terrible I have bacon and Eggs twice a day some days and average bacon and eggs for a meal 8-9 times a week ...every time I go for a physical at work for a trip away somewhere the MO tells me I should cut back on my cholesterol , I smile and tell her I certainly will ...I am lying through my teeth though if she only knew just how many times a week I eat Bacon I wouldnt be allowed to fly off half as often ...but I figure if the vodka , ciggerettes or helichopters dont get me heart disease is welcome to try ...although logically your heart should work better if you keep it greased with bacon fat there should be less friction and more efficent pumping ...works for a Oil Well pump .....JMO...be well all take care and see yah next time ..

Now I happen to know this is good but only because my Hubby forced me to try it at a restaurant in Disney's Magic Kingdom. Prior to that my reaction was "YUCK!"

Jayelles, I can't believe this...we finally agree on something LOL. I love spaghetti o's on toast. Eat them at least once a week that way!!!

All apologies for disrupting this forum. IIRC, gacountry brought this mess in here instead of where it belonged, and I was responding. It can all be deleted from here, no problem. I don't know why she put it here to begin with. I guess that wasn't disruptive.

FW: Please remove this and any of my posts from the Lounge. Thanks!

Fsb don't worry one bit Maybaby59 already told me that GAc was in here on this thread way before this one I believe it was post #244 which no one complained about that one either. FW please do not remove my post! Let the the truth stand tall!

Anybody heard from Dallasvic yet???

I hate to even suggest this, because I really don't know you all that well, although I am trying....is there any chance, any at all, that Dallisvic is part of the Merrick fiasco? Please, don't yell at me if I am way out of line, it is just a question.

I'm not gonna yell...I'm the quiet type...:) I hadn't thought of that...and it is possible, but I just don't think so...Maybe someone else here knows Dallasvic better than I do and can give us a definite answer???

And Zoey, thank you for lighting a candle for Tara...:seeya:

I have only ever been on the JB Ramsey forum...but I have needed a break. It gets to a person after awhile, so I have been trying to look at other things that are happening in the world, ya know? So much sadness, so many senseless murders, so many little children missing. It just breaks my heart. That is how I got on the Merrick thread. I was looking around and saw that someone had just lost a loved one. And then I found all these other forums going on.

Life is full of heartbreak...and I'm sure that very few people can say they've never experienced tragedy in their lives...

These boards are proof of the evil that resides amongst us...and it saddens me to know that humans can commit such atrocious acts against one another...but it is a choice that is made by many every day...Whatever happened to "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"???

Take care.
Very nice to make your acquaintance hotwired pull up a chair let Jeeves massage those knots out of your neck and grab your slippers BTW welcome to the lounge. I assure you there are some serious capers around here but you will not find them in this thread:biggrin:

Morning loungies...

If Dallasvic was a nic involved (verifiably) in the sad Merrick issue it would have been a removed nic. So for now I just assume Dallasvic is MIA and with that thought I hope they are well IRL and we will see them soon.

I don't want to assume the several nics I haven't seen suddenly/recently are also involved in anything untoward, just hope they are off line for a bit due to something personal and will check back in soon.

In the meantime I heard we're having surf and turf...

I highly doubt Dallas is involved, I kind of think that is a ridiculous thought (not towards anyone) just in general. Its just not likely.

I sent dallas an e-mail and haven't heard back... maybe she is having computer troubles? Hey are we all still on for that grilled shrimp? I need some sustenance to go on with all the work I have to do today :)

Freshwater so glad you are here for food, it provides a calm getaway to come here and just sit back in our slippers and enjoy each other. You should come more often, Maybaby get this woman a pair of slippers! Jeeves we have a guest get up offit and welcome her proper like.
First platters fresh off the grill shrimp marinated in cilantro, balsamic vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, and a bit of brown sugar and olive oil. They are so tender and succulent they will melt in your mouth. I also went to the garden and pulled fresh tomatoes as a side for the Caesar Salad and potatoes. I used thick sirloin steak with just a dash of sea salt and ground fresh pepper.

I was out and about reading on some of the different forums and I came upon the Tara forum wherein a new poster addressed One2Snoop as One2Scoop!!

I had to comment, but didn't feel that thread was the place to do so. I read that post a couple of times, thinking, what are they talking about? And then it dawned on me. The past couple of weeks, I have been reading
One2Snoop's nic as One2Scoop as well!!! I thought it was a little odd, but thought maybe this person worked in an ice cream parlor or something!!!

It is amazing how you think you are reading something correctly and it turns out you are way off!!!

I mean this all in fun ONE2SNOOP!! The posts made me laugh and I really needed that!! :D

Were those shrimp up to expectations! I enjoyed them and Jeevers made a special trip in to tell me how good they were.

Aahhhhhh it is so good to be sitting in this cozy chair in my slippers.

I come to CL for the board that has my heart but this is my relaxation and my calm in the mist of the storm so to speak. Pray for Tara and her family as well as all the many families we read about here that have lost loved ones.

Good night all I think I will sit here and enjoy my coffee and this new book for a few minutes.

Yummy!

:chicken: A chicken and an egg are lying in bed.

The chicken is leaning against the headboard smoking a cigarette, with a satisfied smile on its face.

The egg, clearly angry:flamemad: , grabs the sheet, rolls over, and says,
"Well, I guess we finally answered THAT question."

Now I am well fed My compliments to the chef!!!
