Can't wait 'til I get off work to join the party. I have a lot of catching up to do. In case I can't find you all, meet me in the ladies' room OK?
RESTROOMS: Men use restrooms for purely biological reasons. Women use restrooms as social lounges. Men in a restroom will never speak a word to each other. Women who've never met will leave a restroom giggling together like old friends. And never in the history of the world has a man excused himself from a restaurant table by saying, "Hey, Tom, I was just about to take a leak. Do you want to join me?"

I slept late and it was wonderful~~~of course I read until
2am so maybe I did not sleep as long as I thought lol.
It is a beautiful day in South Georgia, I visited
Tara's Tree yesterday and it is standing so straight
and the leaves are so golden. Today is Tara's Birthday
and I would like to ask you'll to light a candle
in her forum for her, many of you do already.
It is such a sad day for her family and I think
it would be so nice to have lots of candles of
love burning for her.

Hey Gurl, hot there hhmmmm, well you keep that
buuny cool, I have always felt sorry for animals
that had so much fur in hot water! My Gwen's
bunny died of a heat stroke this summer and
I cried and cried, she just looked at me like I
had lost my mind but I thought about what he
must have went through before he died.
It is a dark, cool dreary day in South Georgia,
but I pray it rains. Our state along with others
is in desperate need of rain. It has been reported
that some smaller towns in North Ga. or already
having to truck water in. I have always had
nightmares about dying of thirst, then Mel Gibson
did all those Mad Max movies that the principle
behind some of the terror was water and my
nightmares got better, or at least Mel Gibson
was in them, lol. So if you can folks Pray for rain in
these Southern States.

I may have to borrow that statement as it relates to our upcoming winter. I've always loved season changes and winter. But here in the land of lake effect snow around February, I'm about done with it.
Sounds like today is a good day for hot cocoa for many of us!

Please don't share your lake effect snow with us... Please. You can use the line I stated all you want, I have no clue where it originated, but I have said it many winters. Yeah, good day for cocoa and/or some homemade soup. .... fire in the fireplace and .... staying inside!(which I wish I could have done!)

Irish Stew! Comfort food for me whose genealogy is Irish marrying Irish only, until me that is, I married Italian! Would love to have a bowl tonight! But can't eat anything hot or cold for a couple of days! Anyone have a dental implant? Broke one bottom front tooth 8 months ago and they took out three bottom teeth. Am getting close to the end of this surgical nightmare which is costing a fortune, and so much pain! In retrospect, I should have just gotten a denture for the one tooth. I don't know if this whole business will be completed by Christmas! So, all I want for Christmas is my three front teeth (and at my age, GOOD GRIEF!)

I reframe from giving my exact location on the net, just because. I live in the West Puget Sound area West of Seattle. In a rural area in the shadow of the Olympics we seem to get more rain than the cities. Hence 'North Wet WA' seems descriptive enough. ;)

I've had to deal with snow my whole life, but I never had to deal with the sheer volume until I moved to this part of Michigan. They seem to measure snow by the foot vs. the inch. If it weren't for my trusty SUV many mornings I wouldn't even make it out of the driveway. :)

Although we don't get as much as you do, I will never be jealous, I promise! If I see any of the stuff beginning to cover the ground, I cringe. I'm just too old and so is my car, to have to wade through the stuff to get to work, but we have done and we will again, Lord willing.
Yepper, winter coming, and time for me to get out the sewing notions. This Sunday will be the last NASCAR race until February when Daytona Week begins the season. Oh, it was a sad season for my driver, this year. I'm sure hoping that 2008 will be a bring a Championship Trophy to the 88 Team!
I don't know if any of you are baseball fans or not. The Old Left Hander, Joe Nuxall, has passed away. He was the youngest Major League Pitcher at the age of 15. During the years that I lived in Cincinnati, I went to many of the fund raiser dinners for the Reds and met the likes of Marge Schott, Joe, Pete Rose and of course (not that I'm at all happy to state) Johnny Bench. Most of these guys and their wives are just plain ol' people. Joe was a heck of a nice guy. He used to sign off after broadcast of the Reds game with, "This is the Old Left Hander, rounding third and head'n home". Well, folks, The Old Left Hander has rounded third for the last time and gone HOME. He's pitching for a truly winning team, now! Rest in Peace, Joe. See ya one of these days!

It is a dismal, chilly, damp morning here. How I would love to crawl away for the winter and just hybernate from it! But, wish in one hand and ____ in the other, we know which would be filled first. It is a dismal, chilly, damp morning here. How I would love to crawl away for the winter and just hybernate from it! But, wish in one hand and ____ in the other, we know which would be filled first. I'll endure this winter, just as I have the past ones, Lord willing. Our winters aren't as bad as other places, for that I am thankful.

I've never see the aurora borealis in person, but perhaps this year!
I'm not actually having Turkey this year! Saw the conditions they were raised and signed a pledge to forgo it for Thanksgiving and possibly for life until a turkey can live a turkey's full cycle of life before being slaughter for our supper.
My daughter is having baked Salmon with Hollandaise and Capers. My son-in-law and I are having Prime Rib with Bernaise Sause. All the other dishes will be the Thanksgiving fair from the stuffing, relish, potatos, corn, squash, etc, etc

I've had to deal with snow my whole life, but I never had to deal with the sheer volume until I moved to this part of Michigan. They seem to measure snow by the foot vs. the inch. If it weren't for my trusty SUV many mornings I wouldn't even make it out of the driveway. :)
I grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Winters were like London, drizzle, sleet, hail stones, icy roads, grey and ugly. I would welcome beautiful piled up snow with a sunny sky after! Lived in Denver for a year! Lots of dry snow at the craziest times, like Labor Day with flowers in the garden still, but the sun shown more there (like 360 days a year) than is does in FL (don't have the figures in FL because it rains so much and is partly cloudy more often than not). And in the winter, you had to close your blinds in Denver to keep your furniture from bleaching out! At 5,000 feet, the sun was intense even surrounded by snow! We skied in vests in February! If you like Winter (which I DO NOT, Colorado is the best)!
My winter here in Florida is lighting the mini logs in my ceramic chimney on the patio when the temp goes into the 50's at night, and cozying up to the fire with a quilt to enjoy my winter with my poinsetta growing in the yard and my Christmas Cactus' blooming only in December!

Just wanted to share a picture of my furbabies. Molly is on top, then Jack, then Oscar. Jack passed away after a sudden stroke last year. Molly is my darling mischievous numbskull (we love her, but she's not the brightest crayon in the box), and Oscar is my rescue. Someone had abused him horribly at the tender age of 3 months, but we the help of a wonderful vet, we were able to save him and give him a better life.

So glad you are holding down liquids! You need lots and lots of water, home made chicken soup, and a hot toddy to warm you to sleep so that your body builds up your immune system to help you heal!
You have your Southern Mom, GAC! But you also have me, a Philadelphian transplanted to South of the South! So Babykins, we will get you up and going again, healthy and confident! Love ya, Mishell!

I'm SO sorry to hear of your loss! How very sad to lose 2 so close to one another. My Jack cat was only 3 when he had his stroke. So it was quite a surprise.
When you're ready, I hope you'll look to a local rescue or shelter to adopt. There are so many wonderful pets needing good homes out there.

WarmNCozy~ They are JUST lovely! I bet you spend a lot of time with a brush in your hand. :) It infuriates me when people mistreat an animal. In many ways they (pets) are like children because they look to their abusers as a child looks to a parent. And they are usually quite helpless. I found Oscar with a broken jaw and ribs when he was a mere 3 months old. 3 months!! What kind of monsters abuses a 3 month old kitten??
I'm a firm believer in animal abuse prosecution. Those are the same people, with a complete lack of respect for life, which can and often do turn into the types of people that commit the horrible crimes posted about on this very site.
I know it's taken me YEARS to bring little Oscar out of his shell. So my hat is indeed off to you as well for opening your home to an abused animal. It's not an easy path, but indeed one full of rewards for patience.

Our Hunter cat was a rescue kitty, he was found at a dumpster lying by his dead momma and litter mates. It cost us a little over 200 dollars to prove to Hunter he could live. We fed him with an eyedropper every 30 minutes all of us rotating who got up to feed him.
He will be missed and we have the sad job of telling Gwen when she comes Thanksgiving night. Her Rabbit died in the summer when it was so hot and she still will not even let us take his toys out of his house. She blamed herself and her momma for her bunny dying "cause we moved off and he needed his gwen" we know she will take Hunter's death bad.

I found Oscar just off the road on my neighbor's property. When I rushed him to the vet, he asked me if I was "sure" I wanted to spend the funds to save him vs. putting him humanely to sleep. I'll never regret one penny we spent on him. What a sweet soul he's turned into! I too had to go on dropper feeding duty due to his broken jaw. :)
My Jack and Molly were adopted from a local rescue organization when they were around a year old.
It's sounds like your granddaughter has a very sweet heart GA. It's never easy to lose a pet.

That she and her husband have started a business for the love of dogs after leaving their dog at their vet for a week in a kennel! The dog was a mess afterward! It started her on a path to help all animals! We are not having turkey this thanksgiving to help change how turkeys are treated. After much research, I found a place to buy a turkey who lives a normal turkey life before it is killed for my dinner. http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M12838 It is costing me $100 for the turkey, and $80 to ship it frozen to me for Christmas! I feel the cost is like a donation to the Humane Society so that these turkeys live a normal life as a turkey in a stress free, protected and happy environment! And don't trust the name, Free Range (which they get away with because they let them outside once in a while and they can't even move) Freshwater can delete this post if it sounds preachy, but I love animals and each day they are alive should be peaceful and their deaths, painless and respectful!

I am relatively new to these boards and not much is known about me except that I loathe pedophiles and rapists and murderers. So you all remember me telling you about my sister right?
Well yesterday she humiliated me in front of the family and we got into a screaming match, to make a long story short my Dad kicked me out of the house. I have been sitting in this Starbucks for about 4 hours now, first it was a McDonalds for 3, its just too cold out, and gas is so expensive I can't keep my car running, looks like I'm going to have to crawl to my older sisters doorstep with my tail between my legs and ask for a place to stay. I'm so humilitated, I cannot believe this is happening to me right now. I'll check in when I can. Love you all.
Glad to see you back D. Its been a rough one without you. :rose:

Oh Mishell,
Sorry to hear about what you went through. May not be what you want to hear but I am sure your Dad probably did it out of frustration and took it out on you as you being perceived as the "stronger one". Parents can be very forgiving ... so don't let your pride get in the way of calling Dad and making everything OK. As a parent of a 21 year old daughter (soon to be 22) I know parents do and say things out of frustration -- pick up the phone girl!!! :rose:

:rose: Mishell :rose: , I am sorry to hear about your 'Holiday' downer. It seems you have already been given some good advice by others. Everyone has hard moments & we have to work through them. Even if someone embarasses you, how you control your composure counts. It takes two to have a shouting match. Learn from the experience so it is not repeated.
Hope everyone has a Safe Holiday & don't have any run-ins with Drunks.

I have read Michell's post and i am sorry to hear about the bad scene at thanksgiving. My heart broke to hear that you were in a McDonalds, in your car, in a starbucks. How lost and alone you must have felt.
Dallasvic, you are such a kind person to send for her.
I have my own horror stories too about my sister. My only sibling. My twin. I have finally come to realize that some things are just not meant to be, and man o man, it hurts.
I read everyones post's here in the lounge and I feel so not alone. And i want to say that i sure do appreciate you all.

My point to this posting is today, we are supposed to be thankful for what we have and I can tell you that today I did a sit back and take a look at myself moment, and despite the fact that I have a terminal disease where there is no hope of a cure at this stage, I am happy for the most part with my life. I am in constant pain, but that is what they made meds for. I live on a horse farm and my career now is caring for two beloved horses, Charley and Medina. When I go out to the barn in the morning, they are happy to see me and I know it probably is more for the food, but I love them, their personalities, and they are God's creatures. I also share my life with two awesome cats, Nyja and Phaedra Leigh! I have many good friends here in MI and in New England and in 2005, I found my biological family and they all reside in NJ. I met them in Jan 2007, and when I got out of the cab at my aunt's house, and saw people who look like me, for the first time, I felt like I was a whole person. If anyone here has been adopted, they might be able to relate to that. My adoptive mother was abusive and I left home at 14, treated like a common criminal, when all I did was run away from the beatings I got just for breathing. She cared more for my brother than me and it was way obvious at an early age, I never bonded with her like a mother and daughter should and my real mom, as I found out was severely mentally ill all her life and she died in 2001. I have three sisters and two brothers, but my one sister is a drug addict and has inherited some of my mom's illness and we have no clue where she is. I am very close with my sister Bonnie, and she too, suffers from being bi-polar and has borderline personalty disorder as well. There have been times that I had questioned my own mental health, especially being dealt the hand in life that I had, but happy to say I am as normal as you can get. My brothers are fine, and my youngest sister, sadly ,was sold by our mother black market so we don't hold much hope of finding her. I spent last night and part of today with my best friend, my sister of 40 years and she too, did not have a good childhood and has struggled with her own demons, and I don't know what I would have done all these years without her. I can't live out the remainder of my life hanging on to bitterness and anger, it will eat up up alive and all it does is hurt you more. It took me almost 46 years to figure that one out and I feel no guilt, no shame, nothing for the "other people" as I call them. Sherry moved to MI because her boyfriend of 20 years, Butch, his daughter had moved here and he wanted to be close to her and the grandkids, and of course I moved out here! We were homesick last night, even five years later, it still seems surreal that we are not eating a VT turkey, green bean casserole, and homemade pies at the same table we ate at for 30 plus years. We like it here in MI, but we do miss our dear friends in VT, we talked to three of them last night and that added to the whimsy, feeling kinda like lost moments as we picture Bob making gravy and putting chili peppers in it, (YUCK) we picture everyone in our younger years drinking ourselves stupid because we were young and could, and Butch who hates onions, so hammered he ate two plates of my homemade stuffing loaded with them and told Sherry it was the best he ever had! We laughed over this last night and that was 19 years ago! So I am thankful that I have these loving people in my life, my friends here, my precious god-kids, my cats and the horses. I have a warm, comfortable, home in the country which I adore and despite my law enforcement career had to come to an end, and jobs in general especially dispatching as they need and rely on you to do your tour of duty regardless of how you might feel. When I started to get sick, I chalked it up to burn-out and fatigue and was first diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. Looking back on things, I feel I started to get sick about 1996, and since I never was one for doctors unless I had a sinus infection or blood gushing from a body part, I blew it off, till it was so bad I had to quit my career and go on disability and at first it was so awful to have to collect a monthly check, never mind swallow a large dose of pride and sign up for food stamps and medical. After awhile, you are totally humbled and accept your lot in life and that is what I tell myself everyday. Pity parties do not happen in my home and never will. So I hope everyone had a great turkey day and stuffed yourselves insane and it is about family and give thanks to the guy upstairs that never gives us more than what we can handle. Peace Linda.
Hey Linda,
What an awesome privilege to read such an honest post. Shouldn't be surprised though because all of your posts I have read have come straight from the heart. You are a straight shooter girl and I like that. I have met so many great people on this board and count some amongst my best freinds now.
I love this quote by Jane Rubietta "Someone may have stolen your dream when it was young and fresh and you were innocent. Anger is natural. Grief is appropriate. Healing is mandatory. Restoration is possible." It says it all I think.

Oh Mishell, I am so sorry I was not here for you! I did the dinner for my my hubby and my GrandDOG and we just enjoyed each other and the day, so quite in the country, then visited with some friends. I WAS NOT HERE WHEN YOU NEEDED ME and this upsets me! My Granddaughter came home Thanksgiving nite so I was involved with her. We ate at the Pizza Hut on Friday for lunch and I have been very sick every since. This morning is the first liquids I have been able to hold down and I am weak. But gurl I am like Dassavic we can get you to South Ga. and we can love you. But I feel you will be miserable until you can get back in with your Daddy he seems to be your main stay as mine was to me. Sometimes we have to eat crow and go against our own better judgement to have peace and love within a family. My sister and I have a love/hate relationship even at our ages, she is 10 years older than me and thinks she is my momma! Just know that you are loved beyond measure here, you are our young HOPE and we all want to help you and cuddle you and keep you safe. I almost laiod an egg when I found you were riding around to fast food places with your current health issues. I am sorry but your family should have known how sick you have been and this should have been handled differently. I love you Baby Gurl and don't forget it!

Sweet,
We had a little rain and we are so Thankful, the most we have had in months we had Thanksgiving Day late in the evening. It was a perfect day, the kids and young at heart had plenty of time to play outside then the sweet sound of rain.
We are still in dire straits where rain is concerned but God will provide, we just have to be patient and wait.
I hope your holiday was good, mine was wonderful UNTIL I got that strange urge for Pizza on Friday, have not been able to keep anything down since.
I am so glad to see you all kelt the board going during the holiday and maybe I will be back more soon.
Love you all just like an ole' momma hen.

I appreciate all the kind words from all of you and these boards give me an incentive to get out of bed as well as I enjoy posting, I love the fact that we all get along on these boards as the one I was on before, why I did not get out before I did, but I too, had made friends on it and I still talk to some of them and one lady who I deeply admire has plans to join here and you will be pleasantly surprised for her honesty and input like myself. She is a therapist and believe it or not a part-time ME and had a horrible childhood as well. She is not your run of the mill, she refuses to counsel rapists and pedophiles even though she does work within the prison system and that smacks of her integrity and I know you guys will like her. As for Mishell, girl, I am so sorry you had a horrible holiday, I have been there believe me, I know what it is like to not have a dime to your name and no place to go, I actually lived on the streets for a time after running away from home and I would have rather stayed there than to go home so when I started working at the sheriff's dept, I always tried to give people advice, I tried to help them get to a better place and especially with the teens and these kids would be blown away when I would tell them what I went through and a few actually listened to me as a great police officer did for me. I had ran away from yet another foster home and I was hitchhiking on the interstate and he pulled up next to me,. asked me what the hell was I doing and I told him and as I was fixing to jet into the woods he stopped me with one question. "What would it take for you to stay somewhere for awhile"? I looked at him and said "somebody who gives a s**t and he told me to get my butt in the car and from then on my life was better. I lived with him and his family, felt love for the first time, I graduated from high school and went into the world. I apply that it here. If you can help just one person that day, week, month, you saved a life. In today's times, parents are arrested for beating their kids, back in my day, I went to our local yokel Barney Fife police chief in the town where I lived with my parents, showed him the bruises on my butt and back, the healed burn scars, and I was all of 11 and he had the gall to tell me my parents had a right to beat me as they OWNED me and I was a bad child. I hated that SOB from that moment on. When I ended up in state's custody, my social worker was a friend of my mothers' and took her side and told me just about every day that I had left a "warm loving home where I had all the advantages other kids did not have" and I was a wicked, selfish child who should be grateful they adopted me. Can you see where my head was at? I had no one but my grandparents, but they lived in FL and the state said they were too old to take me. They were my mother's parents and they had disowned her the minute they found out the real story and they were on my side till the day they died and they never spoke to their daughter again. They always thought it was Dad that was the problem and while he never really abused me, he did not take my side either as he was whipped by my mother and could not say boo. I would tell the kids this horror that I suffered, and I would tell them I would do everything I could do to get them away from the abuse, I had my life threatened by a twisted sister who abused her son horribly and this woman is a POS for sure and I got her son into a warm loving foster home and he is a success story. She did not want to lose the welfare check, she could have cared less about Josh. I still talk to teens, my goddaughter has had some friends who were going through some rough times and I helped them as much as I could. Do I wish my life could have been different? You bet, but my anger really soared when I found out from the state of NJ that they could have returned me to their custody when they found out I was not a perfect, obedient, child, and I found out for years, my aunt was fighting to get me back ,and about the time a hearing was to be scheduled, we moved to VT and I of course had no idea. They KNEW that I could have been taken, and yet, still kept me, because how would it have looked??? Joan was always one for appearances, when I went to work at the dept, she had the nerve to say to me, why would I do a "dirty" job? And then it was the I hope I won't have to see you at crime scenes on TV what will my friends think? And when I had to go to a murder scene to bring supplies, and I got on our local channel, she was horrified. Now, most parents would be thrilled their child was in LE, not her. Her idea for me was to go to college, meet a rich doctor or lawyer, get married, and have kids and the picket fence and that is not what I wanted. Being a housewife did not appeal to me but that is all she ever did after college. I did go to college ,but not when she wanted me to go. SO you now know why I have no use for her and I could not be any happier having my own family in my life. So if any of you guys want to talk PM like crazy, I will be there for you.

:seeya: Hi Everyone,
How have y'all been ? Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving. I love to eat turkey and dressing. I fix it for my dad's B-Day every year . He loves it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is his favorite. So we eat it 3 times a year.
We next it is Christmas and I love that time of the year. I love giving gifts and seeing their eyes light up when they get what they ask for ,
Mishell,
Sweetie how are you doing now? Did you and your dad make up? I sure hope so and like everyone said sometimes you just have to bite the bullet.
I know it is hard but it is true. You know your sister has problems and you could just let it pass. I know it is hard sometimes ,but that is what you have to do especial during Holidays. Just keep the peace.

Hey Linda,
What an awesome privilege to read such an honest post.
Love this quote Sharlock!!! :)
Wind: I believe you have proven this quote to be true and kudos to you for overcoming such a horrid childhood and you are able to assist other people as a result instead of wallowing in your grief or turning to crime.

Very nice to meet you! I'm an adoptee too, and I'm so sorry to hear the rough time you had as a child. I was lucky enough to be adopted by very kind parents so my experience is much different. That said, you truly are an inspiration to have overcome so much.

I have been Married for 32+ years and we have been together for 35+. About two months ago, when setting the house up for NW Wet drainage, I noticed a clean dog bowl under a log with an un-natural 2'X2' bark lean to shielding it from the weather. It was a type of dog bowl we have used but not outside in years. So I told the wife, and I showed her when she came home. (Background) We have been plagued with this ugly orange mutt treaspassing on our property all summer. We have 5 dogs. 2 Female Huskies (one handicaped born with 3 legs) in the pen. The handicaped one could not deal with tile floor. Our big Malamute is on a day to day (week to week) situation as he is blind (couragous) & diabetic whom I (he won't let her) have to give a shot 2 times a day. Then there is the 14 YO Impertantent Imperial Red Queen and the Black and Tan Mutt we took in. When I showed her the dish set up she said she didn't know anything about it. We have talked about more canine's (type?), but not till after the Queen & the Malamute were gone. Today Mrs SO left for 2 week of conferences. Yesterday she told me she had been feeding the inteloper mutt that has been treaspassing and wanted me to continue while she was gone. My bippy was twisted! For two months she didn't trust me enough to tell me she was feeding this stray. When I found the set up she lied about it. Yeah not the most serious relationship lie. If she didn't trust me with that information, then the wedge is, what else could whe be keeping me in the dark about. So instead of the normal routine, I taking her to the shuttle, I made her take herself to the airport. This is not a desirable way to start two weeks apart. She should have leveled with me weeks ago. Yes there have been 'bumps' in the road, IMHO things have been good for awhile. Am I a 'Prima Donna' or am I justified in being upset that she couldn't confide in me? Black & Tan was given water & food before being taken in. Though I didn't aprove, there was no deception by her. I appreciate the support & experience this Forum has to offer. Thanks, AKA

Personally I believe honesty and openness in communications between two married people as one of the most important if not THE most important element in a marriage regardless of what the issue is.
It appears as if she did tell you about this before with another dog and you did not approve. IMO she told you about this most recent dog because she was going away for 2 weeks and told you as she was leaving to avoid an argument perhaps? I think deception is wrong however if one knows that something is not going to be accepted and will lead to an argument the issue is avoided altogether.
Just curious. You say you disapproved; but exactly what was your reaction?
:rose:
Mishell, I am so sorry you are going through this stuff! Geeze, louise! You need your family's support so bad. We here, will be your support, girl. I pray you are safe and well. I'll keep you in my prayers every day.

I agree with Athena that honesty is the best policy not only in marriage but in dealing with people in life.
You have all those dogs but never mentioned who was responsible for acquiring your pets, was it a joint decision? Not knowing the answer to that I'm going to assume that your wife may be a St. Francis type and has a big heart when it comes to animals.
Yes, she deceived you and outright lied when confronted to avoid an argument, but needed to tell you the truth so that the dog would not go without food. You showed your displeasure by not taking her to the airport.
I think it would be kinder to the dog to be placed for adoption rather than a lean-to for protection from the elements and a bowl of food. That's hardly what a pet really needs, and that is love and affection. Good luck!

AlsoKnownAs,
I read your post and it brought back so many memories. About 14 years ago a family that lived near us moved away and left a Momma dog and 5 pups. We live in the country and this momma dog was a stray that had gone 'wild' the pups were to skidish for us to catch and the momma would not come out just crouch and growl at us. About 4 of the neighbors started buying dog food and feeding this family of dogs at the now vacant house. Every day we would take turns with the food and water and we would talk to the pups, and watch our butts cause that was one mean momma. Finally after about a month one of the little pups came out she was the runt and so skinny and wormy even with the good food and attention. My son was in college and he wanted to bring her home, I told him no because she was a girl dog, my son was a straight a student all through school and college and he tried to convince me IF we did not tell HER she was a girl she would never have pups! At least he winked his beautiful brown eye at me when he said it. On weekends he would catch the pup and bring her home, this dog won my heart and after many vet bill became the most playful, loving dog we ever owned PURE Heinz 57 looked like a mix of everything but oh how I cried when he/she died.
The moral of the story is I bought food and did not tell my husband since he thought the best thing was to get rid of the dogs because of the wild momma and what the pups might have. The Momma dog did have to be put down but all the pups were saved and loved.
I am not anyway suggesting you take the dog in but do give your wife a chance if this is the only fibs you have caught her in consider yourself lucky and talk with her about a local shelter for the dog. Life is to hard without making it worse, and IF you aren't careful * wink wink* you might be the one looking for a meal under a lean-to*wink wink*. Give your wife a chance she was just showing compassion to God's creatures. This is my opinion and sometimes they are not taken kindly. You seem to be a kind and compassionate man look at this issue again is my suggestion.

Since you were up set with her and made her drive herself just think if something was to happen to ,but GOD I hope not , but just what if over feeding a hungry animal she had not told you about.
This does not I my eyes say she has lied to you about other things ,just this because y'all had discussed it and not get anymore til the other 2 had gone.

Whoa! We have never told each other what we can or can't do. I do appreciate the replys. Wether it's me riding a MC, or it is Mrs SO taking a trip to Russia it was adjusted for. I didn't approve of her feeding Samuel at the gate (her name) to me he is 'Roofus D Dog'. I have trained dogs that I could confidently double heal them down the street & never had a problem. So, yes I would have objected to her 'baiting' keeping this dog treaspassing. That doesn't mean I would have forbid it. Thats a different level. At one time we had 17 dogs raising Huskies & Malamutes. When Samuel came nature was thinning what we still had, but we still had quite a few dogs. I had doubts the big Malamute & Samuel would be Ok without fighting. I was wrong & Samuel was submissive & wasn't a problem. The Red Husky Queen (pics soon I hope) wouldn't like a puppy, & the blind Malamute would not appreciate one either. Now I am trying to train Samuel so if we get another pup it has a sound role model. By Mrs SO admission, there is no getting near this orange rogue pup. We discussed that once the river flowed he wouldn't be crossing. Expecting food, yes he still is crossing. So it is on going deception. She thought I wanted a Divorce when I paid off the house with inheritance money, but wanted papers that the house became community property at the same rate as the loan payoff. So this dog is NOT a reason for deception. I don't expect it to end in Divorce. I am not content in a Relationship with deception. I would rather 'just shoot me'. AKA

MAYONNAISE JAR and 2 CUPS OF COFFEE
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day is not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.
He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the
golf balls.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
Next, the professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "YES."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.
The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.
"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the
pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are! important to you.
So...
Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children. Take time to get medical checkups.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. "Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities.
The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

thanks Athena, (I understand) I had only drank coffee for a couple short months & quit. A career spent mostly on swing and graveyard was hard for non coffee drinkers to understand.
The dish of food I put out early this morning was empty (refilled) this afternoon. I guess the 'Rogue' dog presence has been here. AKA

AKA I had just read all the replys and you know what, I think you answered your own questions. And the fact that you filled the bowl made me smile largely! I love that. I'm sorry I wasn't able to give you my bit of advice, as you have given me quite a bit of sensible words. But I think you proved your point you were upset with her by not driving her to the airport, yet you still filled the bowl. SO now she has two weeks to worry (which is going to be hell) and when she comes back you two talk about it, now that you have both cooled off. Good Luck keep me posted

Also I am home now everyone, I came home late lastnight, Thanks so much for your warm wishes. I took everyones advice and called my father, I had a lot of anger towards him and my sister, but I bit t he bullet and apologised. He said it wasn't all my fault but he had to seperate us, he has had enough of our fighting, and that I woul be able to survive being told to leave, as she wouldnt. It aggrivates me sometimes that "I'm the strong one" because I get treated different, but than I look at it, and I would rather be the strong one than the sick one.
Thanks everyone for all your words of wisdom and comfort I dont think i would have sucked it up so soon and went back if it weren't for all your suggestions.

i lied to my exhusband once about an animal. i was driving his truck a little too fast on our newly paved road and a squirrel ran out in front of me and started doing that schitzo squirrel thing they do where they keep changing directions. i swerved to miss him and slammed right into our neighbors brick mailbox!! i knew he was going to be UPSET about the damage to his truck so when he asked me what happened while he was on his knees grieving over his custom paintjob, i knew that "a squirrel" was gonna be the wrong answer. so i lied. i told him another car passed over the yellow line and i had ABSOLUTELY NO CHOICE but to hit the mailbox. but i was outed by our neighbor. while my ex was over there rebuilding his mailbox, our neighbor came out and said, "betcha wish she wouldve just hit the damn squirrel!" you see, when he came out after i hit his mailbox, i was so shaken i blurted out, "squirrel!!" without thinking. anyways, i was just trying to avoid a heated confrontation over something that i couldnt change anyway. i shouldnt have lied (either that or done it better, lol). this story is neither here nor there. youre story just reminded me of it. see ya 'round the boards:seeya:

My bestest friend in the whole world -- more than 30+ years had a heart attack this morning while she was mopping her kitchen floor. Her name is Joyce and she is in intensive care. I just spoke with her husband and I believe one of her arteries was opened up enough to get the blood supply going. I don't understand much but I believe he said there were two other arteries requiring treatment?
Anyway -- most of those who know me -- know that I believe in the power of prayers. I ask all of you to please say a prayer for my friend. TIA.

First and foremost, Athena, My prayers are CERTAINLY with your friend and her loved ones (including you) at this time. May she regain her full health and recovery at this time.
What I know about arteries is this
The heart pumps blood out through one main artery called the dorsal aorta. The main artery then divides and branches out into many smaller arteries so that each region of your body has its own system of arteries supplying it with fresh, oxygen-rich blood. So she certainly could have two that still need treatment. The good thing is she has a blood-supply going through her body and her heart.
Thanks to http://www.texasheart.org/HIC/Anatomy/anatomy2.cfm
We can view this information to get a good look at what we are talking about.
Hope this helps at all.

Four types of valves regulate blood flow through your heart:
The tricuspid valve regulates blood flow between the right atrium and right ventricle.
The pulmonary valve controls blood flow from the right ventricle into the pulmonary arteries, which carry blood to your lungs to pick up oxygen.
The mitral valve lets oxygen-rich blood from your lungs pass from the left atrium into the left ventricle.
The aortic valve opens the way for oxygen-rich blood to pass from the left ventricle into the aorta, your body's largest artery, where it is delivered to the rest of your body.

Mishell, glad everything family wise is on the positive note. ;)
Tangerine, thanks for sharing your story. I (hopefully) have trained myself not to swerve for animals. Retired from MC riding where swerving is dangerous, but I use the binders hard. We live in an area with lots of Bambi, Wylie Coyote, Rocky Racoons & the Zig Zagging Squirrels.
I am not sure we are doing this dog a favor by feeding him. The river he has to cross gets him plenty wet. The temps here at night are in the low 20's & mid 30's high during the day. Catch 22 now! Crossing the river wet & hungry is worse. He doesn't have body fat or northern dog coat. The food I put out this morning was gone this afternoon. We got our first snow last night about 3/4 of an inch.
I have raised several dogs I didn't want to. A R+W Husky (Foxie Lady) came with a litter. Foxy was the Mae West of dogs. 2 weeks before a diabetic on slought from which she went blind and died, she was out there telling the Boys she was one hot Mama & they better key their eyes on her. Zinger, renamed Augie by me was a Chocolate Lab looking pup. I gave up trying to make him nurse. You don't want to mess with pups too much. We realized he only had 3 complete legs. He was a friendly energetic guy. The distortion the wrist takes in hopping & balance he was in too much pain by middle age. He loved me to sing to him, he felt so special:
His Favorite, (think) Nat King Cole
Lab chops roasting on an open fire
Little Huskies nipping at his toes
Augie with your nose so bright
Won't you guard my sleigh tonight
The younger R&W Blue Eyed F Husky also was born with an incomplete limb. She is useless without her mother. Her name is Wacky Wabbit. The horses are always taken back in the dark by the movement of 3 legged dogs. It's a rabbit like hoping motion.
Most of the animals we agreed on. She was supposed to find a home for Samuel. He was the B&T stray. He is a good watch dog. He is not agressive. The Queen moped the floor with him twice. I am working to train him. Soon he will be the only male dog. Want to have a good roll model if we choose to get a pup sometime. The blind Malamute still has his moments. Being a very confident gorgeous Alfa 131 lb M, the blindness has not lost him his confidence. It's hard watching him deteriorate so fast.
Several Eagle sighting this last week. AKA

I enjoyed your post I knew you were a good guy *wink*. As to the stray and the water, the cold and the snow that is a problem, BUT you are feeding him and that was all you were asked to do. It is God's way of controlling the animal population to take a few out, we as His Stewards are only asked to aid and maybe to accept His Ways. When your wife comes home greet her with a smile and clear conscience knowing you did what she asked. Again this is just my opinion which has hit me in the face many times.
Enjoy your animals, I keep thinking I will bite the bullet and get another dog but so far I have not. We live on a farm and have cows so I have to let my Dogs choose me carefully. My Dad gave me a white English Bulldog that just loved calf ears and pig tails. It was not our decision to give him back but it was to expensive stock wise to keep him. My Dad took him back but he had developed a taste for blood and my Dad had to have the vet deal with it. I love my pets and it hurts like losing family when one dies or is killed, so I just love and spoil my Granddog.
Eagles!! Oh how exciting. We have had sightings in South GA but not by me, I would think it would be a beautiful sight.
