OK I am going to do an update:
I completed the Fall Festival face painting at our Church tonight,
55 kids and about that many adults. I called the Bingo game for
the Seniors while the kiddies went on hay rides. That is over and
a good time was had by all, lol.
Now I am trying to get all the last minute kinks out of the Tree
Dedication for Tara tomorrow. Just finished the flower arrangements,
still have to finish getting everything ready to load up for Ocilla.
Just remember tonight or tomorrow to ask God to bless this
service and if you have any clout with Him ask Him to let this tree grow
and be beautiful for Tara and all our Missing.
I will be so glad when Tuesday comes so I can sit and enjoy you'lls company,
Monday I plan to keep my jammies on all day and do absolutely NOTHING.

Well, the place is packed! :beer:

I just dropped by to say thanks to the gang for sending me my very first Birthday Greeting for the day.

My husband and son bought me an entire computer system two weeks ago, but neither one has told me "Happy Birthday" today... they must have forgotten to even look at the date!:confused:

Well, I expect ya'll have some sort of cake in the house, everybody gets some!:D Oh, don't bother with the 53 candles... don't want the sprinklers to go off, do we?

Knowing my son, he probably loaded his fishing box, tool box, surf board into the boat. Haley probably loaded the china, crystal and silver into the boat along with photo albums and computer! On my way to work and wanted to leave you all with this little inspirational saying I found; it touched me and wanted to share:

May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand. May the pain you have known and the conflict you have experienced give you the strength to walk through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism.

Always know that there are those whose love and understanding will always be there, even when you feel most alone. May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace. May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them. Remember the sunshine when the storm seems unending.

Dear Dv :seeya: I lost my brother to a terminal illness known as "motor neurone disease" its a terrible illness that has no known cure, my brother died of a sudden heart attack due to the strain on his heart from the pressure of not being able to swallow and needed help to remove his phlegm and was rushed to the emergencies to remove and when he reached home he just fell over and died, we were absolutelly devastated but at the same time we were thankful he had a quick death.. yet i feel awfull as he died so young at 54! thats why i was so ANGRY as our own dad died of a thrombosis at 56....
till now even after 4 years he has passed away i still feel and grieve and there are nights i have a recurring dream where he is with me and talking to me, i went through some hard times after he died and i always felt his presence as well as my sisters and mum...
your uncle was a lucky man as he has a loving niece who really did care and love him, bless you. :rose:

Thank you all for your prayers! They worked. Haley & Vincent and their babies made it safely to a hotel last night on Point Loma. It's a peninsula next to Coronado Island and is surrounded by water which makes Momma a very happy lady. They had time to grab their laptop, the animals food, some clothes and hopped into their cars and dragged the boat and left. Couldn't go back to get important papers as it was too late when they remembered them. Of course, the surfboard made the trip.

It is so sad in San Diego. They have met a lot of people at the hotel that have no home to go back to, and collecting insurance payments could take years. I feel very badly for the sad victims in Southern California, and my prayers will be with them.:rose:

I'm glad your son and his family are at least safe! I will be praying for their home. There is a reason for everything .... reminds me of the song by the Byrds (ahhhh, the good ol' days!), 'Turn, Turn, Turn'. You probably aren't old enough to remember it. I am so glad that they are ok. :) I have heard that so far two people have lost their lives. :( Material possessions can be replaced but lives can't. We have had some awful bushfires here in Australia and especially in South Australia where I live. I remember 'Ash Wednesday'. I was only a kid but I can clearly recall seeing the smoke from our front porch. It is coming up to Summer here and having to leave my home not knowing if it will be there when I return is my worst fear. I am thinking of you and your loved ones. :rose:

Hey Guys I meant to tell you about this documentary that I saw called Australia Revealed. Its narrated by Russell Crowe. It was absolutely awesome and gave me a better insight into my country. For those who would like to actually see what Australia is like then this is the doco for you. If you are able I strongly recommend that you track it down and watch it. It is breathtaking and you can hear the pride in Russell's voice as he talks about his homeland. If you do see it, let me know your thoughts. Take care. xxx

You will find that I love expressing myself through meaningful poems and hope you all do not mind.

I posted this little poem in the "My True Story" thread started by Seashell who tried to make a difference in a little child's life. We can all make a difference in a child's life even if only one child at a time.

Another Day Has Dawned
by Kit McCallum

Amidst our chaos and confusion;
Amidst our anguish and despair;
Amidst our never-ending questions and blame;
… Lies a world of lessons.

Through our tears and astonishment;
Through our hopelessness and depression;
Through our anxiety and grief;
… Lies a world of shame.

For it is our world that is responsible;
It is our world that allowed this sadness;
It is our world that has lost its youth;
… And it is our world that needs to change.

It is a warning for those who would isolate it;
It is a warning for those who would bury it;
It is a warning for those who think it will not touch them;
… It is we, who need to address it.

For this is the birth of our own generation;
This is the birth of our own problems;
This is the birth of our own past mistakes;
… It is we, who needed to watch over them.

A new generation who have hopes and dreams;
A new generation who have life and laughter;
A new generation who deserve a chance at peace;
… It is we who need to make them secure.

It is time to stop talking in circles;
It is time to stop blaming and pointing;
It is time to stop questioning and guessing;
… It is time to accept the burden and act.

We are not blameless;
We are not above reproach;
We are not perfect role models;
… For we are the generation they emulate.

Look beyond your own your circle of life;
Look beyond your picket fences and chained doors;
Look beyond your own backyard;
… And admit your frailties and failures.

Did you not once look the other way?
Did you not once stay quiet when you should have spoken?
Did you not once say I cannot change it?
… Do you know that we can make a difference?

One small voice can begin to move mountains;
One caring gesture can begin to enlighten others;
One shoulder to lean on, can ease another’s pain;
… Did you know that you are that one?

Listen to those who are in jeopardy;
Listen to that small voice whispering that they are in trouble;
Listen to that child with the wayward, furtive glance;
… And be prepared to take part in their future.

For if you do not listen and talk;
If you do not participate and take responsibility;
If you do not guide and offer them your heart and wisdom;
… It is we, who will join in their misery.

It reaches beyond your own immediate children;
It reaches beyond their friends and peers;
It reaches beyond your nieces and nephews;
… For it is every child you come in contact with.

Positive action begins in our own backyards;
Positive action flows through your own neighborhood;
Positive action can encompass your own small town or city;
… And through this, we are all connected.

Be a mentor when others fail to counsel;
Be a counselor when others fail to listen;
Be a listener when others fail to notice;
… Be a positive experience with every child you meet.

For yesterday, someone looked the other way;
Yesterday, someone pretended they did not see;
Yesterday, someone passed by without offering help;
… But today, it is not too late.

Today, you can make a difference in someone’s life;
Today, you can offer your love and guidance;
Today, you can choose to be a positive influence for another;
… And then maybe, just maybe, our world will change with you.

This is beautiful and something I needed to read. We have been in an Estate War for 11 years,
fighting over land, I am so tired and crushed over the loss of friendship within our family. I have
fought to keep the family land together and to not sell, yesterday the Judge handed down
an order for it to be sold. I have no doubt we will buy most of it back but the principle is 'our
parents gave it to us" now the judge is going to make us BUY it back and give the realotors
a hugh chunk, and of course the lawyers will get theirs. And this is land given to us by our
father and mother.

But today will be another day,
today I will smile at someone by the way.
I'll offer love to those that are lonely,
encouragement to those that lost the race.
I will ask God to give me Mercy and Grace.

Thanks Athena for giving me a different outlook on one of the saddest days of my life.

I dated a guy once that would order his steak rare, and I mean rare. He would ask them to put it on the grill, turn it over and put it on his plate. All he wanted was the outside warmed up. I couldn't eat when they would bring him his plate. Needless to say, we didn't last very long!!

I'm glad you have a positive outlook ga. Real Estate law is most cumbersome and there are so many loopholes. It's shameful that you have to fight over something that is technically yours. The only ones that make out in cases like this are the lawyers. Been there, done that and I understand what you are going through. Hang in there ga. I suppose you could look on the bright side; you do have the opportunity to buy it back but you fought a good fight on principle. Land laws in this country are so archaic and need updating and that is part of the problem. :rose:

GA I am so glad the planting of the tree turned out so nice! Thanks for posting the article and giving us an idea of what went down, i wish I could have been there. What a nice response Mr & Mrs. Grinstead wrote about your service, she must be forever grateful for just remembering her daughter let alone organizing a wonderful service memorial. Your a gem, a truly one of a kind compassionate person. I'm honored to have you as a friend. :rose:

What a love story!!!

I will seek and find you . .
I shall take you to bed and have my way with you

I will make you ache, shake & sweat until you moan & groan.

I will make you beg for mercy, beg for me to stop.

I will exhaust you to the point that you will be relieved when I'm finished with you.

And, when I am finished, you will be weak for days.

All my love,
The Flu

Hello,
Just joined this site, so thought I'd introduce myself!

My names Cat, im a student in the United Kingdom, and i've just started my first year of a FdSc degree in Forensic Science

Im hoping to become a Forensic Pathology Assistant or a Criminalist! Tho i'd be just as happy sat in a DNA lab running tests all day long!!! Lab monkeys rock!!

I've wanted to work in Forensics since i was 9! Despite being told by everyone except my mother and step father, that is was a macabre career choice and that i'd grow out of it!

Umm can't think of much else to say about my self!

But Forensics is fascinating and its such an essential career.....the only bad thing is when you tell pples what your doing and they seem to presume your just being trendy coz of shows like CSI and stuff!
People just presume that the cops do the crime solving...no one gives a thought to the poor lab monkey who did the actual work!

Sorry for that......i tend to go on a bit with out realsing it

Well, all are different cultures yet American! You didn't ask about a lot of other places here that are magnificent, like the Rocky Mountains, San Francisco, Wyoming, Montana, actually all the states! I've been to just about all, lived in some of the most beautiful and wonderful states, and am very happy in Florida! I like it WarmNCozy! We do have nights where we light a fire! But nights being cool is just fine with me, open the windows! But during the day, I like sunshine and warmth! No coat, no sweater! And green all year! Trees without leaves and grass that is brown and frozen makes me depressed even though I grew up in Philadelphia, PA with the grey drizzly cold climate much like London!

And I am sure that you know that a lot of us are Irish, Scottish or English because of our grandparents!

Does Eileen Dooley qualify me for the United Kingdom?

Sorry,
Hadnt noticed the australian pples. Like i said....totally unobservant!
My plan is to travel all over america and vist all the states, but if i don't have the time, or money those are the top places on my list.
But i have lots of other palces i wanna see, The Grand Canyon, San Fransico, I have family somewhere in Canada so i spose it would be nice to see them at least once in my life!
I want to go round Australia as well coz half my family live over there (with some in NZ)
I want to swim the great barrier reef, and i want to go to Italy at vist Pompeii!

With so many places i wanna see i think im gonna need a lotto win (or a fanatabulous Forensics Job)

I wanna go New York especially coz my partner and I both love what we've seen and been told by pples who have been. It is my fond hope that when we finally get to go he will pop the question on one of those pony trap rides round central park!! lol
Although im well aware that is about as likley as Prince Charming on a white horse handing me Tinkerbell! :D

Im also slightly mad - sorry!

But anyways its great to meet you all so far! You sem like a uber super bunch of fellow sleuths and Forensic Fanatics!

Sorry,
Hadnt noticed the australian pples.

This is the best I could do - cuz I didn't want you mad anymore; you need to smile:

Honestly, I dont like football or baseball, and because I'm not a RedSox fan I get a lot of slack. its funny. It was only natural for me to say that Patriots will bring it back next year because its expected. haha I like Ultimate Fighting and Hockey. Even though my hockey team sucks. LMAO

Back in the day when sports were played partly for the fun of it and waaaay before the $$$ blinded the players, I fell in love with the game of baseball. I became a Cincinnati Reds Booster and attended many of their booster dinners, got to know many of the players and Marge Schotte, the owner (then). I've met all of the Big Red Machine - what great guys they were. But that was then, baseball isn't what it used to be, much the same could be said for many sports today, I would guess. Too much money, drugs and afluence involved, IMO.

OK I am a south Georgia chef so I had to look that sucker up!!!!
Marmite is dark brown-colored savory spread made from the yeast that is a by-product of the brewing industry. It has a very strong, slightly salty flavor. It is definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of food.

It usually comes in small (2-5 inches high) bulb-shaped glass jars with a distinctive yellow lid. You can also find individual portion sized Marmite in hotels and cafes and for the really adventurist, you can find large plastic tubs for the catering industry.

Children in Britain are generally fed it from the time they are weaned, and most never grow out of it. It has a high B-vitamin content, as well as riboflavin and niacin—and as such is very healthy. (The vitamin-B complex helps prevent anemia.)

Marmite may be stored at room temperature, even after the jar has been opened. Large jars will last months—even years—without any spoilage. Old marmite can turn hard and lose its gooey spreadability, the catering and individual portions suffer from this more that the Marmite found in glass jars.

2. What do I do with it?

The most common use is as a spread on toast or in sandwiches. Note: it is generally spread very thinly because of its strong flavor—don't use it like jam. It has drug-like qualities; the more you eat, the thicker you need to spread it to get the same mouth-burning effect. Some people have even called it addictive.

It is also a delicious spread on hot buttered crumpets or ryvita crackers. A pregnant fan has reported a love for Marmite and bananas.

Phil Johnson's favorite way to eat it is thinly-spread on rye toast with slices of sharp cheddar cheese. Very satisfying.

A lot of Brits have it on buttered toast. Do take care not to get butter or bread crumbs in the Marmite jar. It makes an unappetizing mess for the next person.

There is no feeling like the smugness you feel when you manage to scrape just enough Marmite from the jar for another piece of toast. Top tip (from James Kew): pour boiling water into a near-empty jar and drink the jar clean.

A teaspoon of Marmite can also be added to soups, casseroles, and almost any savory food for a wonderful, rich flavoring. Marmite mixed into a chili recipe or (my favorite) add Marmite to gravy and it will add a more "meaty" flavour. Remember, Marmite IS Vegetarian.

In England, pretzel-like morsels and other boxed fast-food snacks are available with Marmite flavoring. Fans of Mr. Bean will remember an episode where he made hors d'oeuvres for a party by spreading Marmite on twigs cut from a tree outside his kitchen window.

Walkers (known as Lays in the USA) make Marmite flavoured crisps (chips in USA ;-).

In the UK, you can also buy crunchy wholemeal biscuits flavoured with Marmite. They are made by Fudges bakery of Dorset and can now be bought online at Provender Delicatessen.

In some neighborhoods it is (apparently!) common for nursing mothers to dab a little on their nipples before feeding their infants.

There are reports that some balding men have tried smearing Marmite on their heads to promote hair growth. No assessment of whether it works, however.

3. What are its ingredients?

Marmite is made from (greater quantity first):

* Yeast Extract
* Salt
* Vegetable Extract
* Vitamin: Niacin
* Spices
* Vitamins: B1, B2, Folic Acid, B12

Marmite is also made under license throughout the world. In New Zealand, the ingredients are :

* Yeast
* Sugar
* Salt
* Wheatgerm Extract
* Mineral Salt (508)
* Color (Caramel)
* Herbs
* Spices
* Vitamins: Niacin, Thiamin, Riboflavin

Marmalade is a very tangy and tart kind of jam I guess. Some like it and others can't stand it! But now vegemite...lovely. I must say though that I have never tried it with bananas, :eek: but what a massive dose of vitamin b and potassium! I love vegemite on english muffins or crumpets. Mmmmmm, vegemite lol. :)

Marmalade

British-style marmalade is a sweet preserve with a bitter tang made from fruit, sugar, water, and (in some commercial brands) a gelling agent. American-style marmalade is sweet, but not bitter. In English-speaking usage "marmalade" almost always refers to a preserve derived from a citrus fruit, most commonly oranges. The recipe includes sliced or chopped fruit peel, which is simmered in fruit juice and water until soft; indeed marmalade is sometimes described as jam with fruit peel. Such marmalade is most often consumed on toasted bread as part of a full English breakfast. The favoured citrus fruit for marmalade production in the UK is the "Seville orange", Citrus aurantium var. aurantium, thus called because it was originally imported from Seville in Spain; it is higher in pectin than sweet oranges, and therefore gives a good set. Marmalade can also be made from lemons, limes, grapefruits, strawberries or a combination of citrus fruits.

Vegemite
Vegemite is considered as much a part of Australia's heritage as kangaroos and the Holden cars. It is actually an Australian obsession that has become a unique and loved symbol of the Australian nation.

A Vegemite sandwich to an Australian kid is the equivalent of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to an American kid - but the taste is QUITE different!

Vegemite is one of several yeast extract spreads sold in Australia. It is made from leftover brewers' yeast extract (a by-product of beer manufacture) and various vegetable and spice additives. It is very dark reddish-brown, almost black, in color, and one of the richest sources known of Vitamin B. It's thick like peanut butter, it's very salty, and it tastes like - well let's just say that it is an acquired taste!

Australian children are brought up on Vegemite from the time they're babies. It is said that Australians are known to travel all over the world with at least one small jar of Vegemite in their luggage, for fear that they will not be able to find it.

Marmite as you said is definatly a love it or hate it thing!
I love it, my mum loves it, my grandfolks love it ad everyone else in the family hates it!
My partner doesnt even like it in the house - but tough on him coz i love the stuff!

I have it spread really thickly coz i love the taste so much!
Fave combo's have to be,
Marmite and banana
Marmite and apple (Granny smith vaiety)
Marmite and cheese
Marmite and Cucumber
Marmite with both of the above in french bread!!!
or just marmite on its own on warm buttered toast!!!

And i do like normal spreads as well.....lol
Jam, Marmalade, Lemon Curd!

Wow - im hungary again! Damn all this talk of food lol

Couldnt have peanut butter or jelly tho....hate peanut butter and jelly in a sandwhich is just too wierd!

A spoon of marmite in a cup, with hot water added is also a very nice drink! its very warm and filling, especially on the wet cold miserable days (like the one Plymotuh ,England is experiencing right now - im almost tempted to start gathering two of every animal!)

I'll have to try Marmite. I liked the way the avocado and marmite looked on toast and I also prefer salty things to sweet things.

I agree with the peanut butter and jelly. I never could understand the combination. Peanut butter sandwich plain or jelly with cream cheese ok.

I had my sweet Granddaughter over the weekend also. We have her most every weekend but I think each one is more grand than the last. I am a sucker for her hugs and kisses, we had tea parties and played "surgery" all weekend, we ate what we wanted and had very few rules! UPDATE: 11:00 PM EDT...NOEL'S TRACK FORECAST KEEPS THE STORM SYSTEM OVER THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS. A STATIONARY FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND A WEAKENING HIGH PRESSURE TO THE NORTH OF NOEL IS PREVENTING A WESTWARD TRACK FROM OCCURRING. FLORIDA SEEMS TO BE OUT OF THE WOODS FOR NOW, HOWEVER, STAY TUNED FOR THE LATEST ON NOEL'S TRACK THROUGHOUT THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THOSE IN THE PATH OF NOELS TRACK NEED TO HEED THE ADVICE OF LOCAL WEATHER OFFICE OR LOCAL AUTHORITES FOR STORM INFORMATION / EVACUATIONS. HEAVY RAINS WITH THIS STORM SYSTEM CAN PRODUCE FLASH FLOODS AND DEADLY MUDSLIDES IN MOUNTAINOUS AREAS.

I had my sweet Granddaughter over the weekend also. We have her most every weekend but I think each one is more grand than the last. I am a sucker for her hugs and kisses, we had tea parties and played "surgery" all weekend, we ate what we wanted and had very few rules! I like it that we can do that at Granny's and then she goes home full of sugar and loving.

Yeah I will have mine again next weekend! Can't WAIT! I love all that sugar, too....;)

Man I wish, lol, I have nothing up, my Granddaughter and I did paint pumpkins but that was it. My hubby came in for lunch and was telling me he had the pumpkins if I wanted to do the pumpkin man, lol.
I will have to drag it all out, most of the surrounding area comes here on the 31st for goulish treats, they especially like my Witches Brew with floating eyeballs and slimy worms, lol.
We usually get carried away with a fright show etc. but for some reason this year I will be lucky to get the food fixed and the patio decorated. Hope I am more in the mood by Christmas!!!
