Trying to catch up on the posts, but wanted you to know, I lit a real candle for your granddaughter at church today. I light a real one every week for Tara and Maddy and added your granddaughter and Dallasvic this morning to my candles. The power of prayer......it's what it is all about.
You are just so very sweet! Gwen will be so delighted and she and I certainly believe in prayer. I wish all of you could hear her prayers they are so precious and she talks to God like he is her best friend, why do we lose that perfection as we grow older?
For your act of kindness I will not require you to eat any type of lobster, crawdad or sushi. LOL
Again thank you my friend for your kindness.
We just had a birthday party for my mom and my nieces just left. I have 5 all under the age of 6. However, I don't know what to do, my sister is manic and she hasnt been taking her meds, and she is getting violent, I cant stand it anymore, I'm physically and emotionally exhausted. Its just so isheartening ya know? We might have her committed this week. I think its best, I'm so sad, yet anxious to to get her there. Does that mean I'm a bad person?:(
It means you are a loving and caring person, which we all knew you were. You have to reach deep down in your heart, and know what is right to do for your sister. It sounds like you are going to do the right thing, IMO. It will be hard Mishell, but we are all here for you if you need someone to talk to.
For your sister - :rose:
For you and your family - :rose:

"Me Oh My Crawfish Pie File Gumbo" or some such lyrics. Those little buggers are like our crawfish LOL.
Cajun & Creole : Crawfish Pie
* 1 (10-ounce) package frozen puff pastry shells, thawed
* 1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
* 1 1/2 cups chopped onion
* 1 cup chopped green pepper
* 1 cup chopped celery
* 3 cloves garlic, minced
* 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
* 1 teaspoon Original TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce
* 2 pounds peeled crawfish tails, or 2 pounds medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
* Juice of 1/2 lemon
* 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
* 1/2 cup chopped green onions (green only)
Preheat oven to 400°F. On a lightly floured surface, roll each puff pastry shell into a 7-inch round. Place on a cookie sheet and bake 15 minutes or until shells are golden; cool slightly and remove centers.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat; add onion, green pepper, celery, and garlic and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add salt and TABASCO® Sauce; reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add crawfish, lemon juice, and parsley and cook 10 minutes longer. Just before serving, stir in green onions.
To serve, spoon crawfish into cooked patty shells, allowing some to spill over sides.
Makes 6 servings.

I just want to clarify my previous post about my sister. If I wrote it wrong I apologise. She has NEVER been violent towards my nieces. I meant towards me mainly. And herself. I just don't want any of you to get the wrong idea. Thanks for being my friends girls. I never thought on a message board I would meet such great compassionate people. And thankyou for proving to me that I can indeed find good wholesome people such as you ladies. :seeya:

A little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hiding place in the closet.
She poured the change out on the floor and count ed it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes.
Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall's Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.
She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention, but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!
"And what do you want?" the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I'm talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven't seen in ages," he said without waiting for a reply to his question.
"Well, I want to talk to you about my brother," Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. "He's really, really sick...and I want to buy a miracle."
"I beg your pardon?" said the pharmacist.
"His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?"
"We don't sell miracles here, little girl. I'm sorry but I can't help you," the pharmacist said, softening a little.
"Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn't enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs."
The pharmacist's brother was a well dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?"
" I don't know," Tess replied with her eyes welling up.! I just know he's really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can't pay for it, so I want to use my money."
"How much do you have?" asked the man from Chicago
"One dollar and eleven cents," Tess answered barely audibly.
"And it's all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to."
"Well, what a coincidence," smiled the man. "A dollar and eleven cents---the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. "
He took her money in one hand and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said "Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let's see if I have the miracle you need."
That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn't long until Andrew was home again and doing well.
Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.
"That surgery," her Mom whispered. "was a real miracle. I wonder! how much it would have cost?"
Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents....plus the faith of a little child.
In our lives, we never know how many miracles we will need.
A miracle is not the suspension of natural law, but the operation of a higher law. I know you'll keep the ball moving!
Here it goes. Throw it back to someone who means something to you!
A ball is a circle, no beginning, no end. It keeps us together like our Circle of Friends. But the treasure inside for you to see is the treasure of friendship you've granted to me.
Today I pass the friendship ball to you.
Pass it on to someone who is a friend to you.
MY OATH TO YOU...
When you are sad.....I will dry your tears.
When you are scared.....I will comfort your fears.
When you are worried.....I will give you hope.
When you are confused.....I will help you cope.
And when you are lost....And can't see the light, I shall be your beacon.....Shining ever so bright.
This is my oath.....I pledge till the end.
Why you may ask?.....Because you're my friend.
Signed: GOD

Much better, thanks for asking. The Dr's are still not sure what happened so she will be in for more test and blood work this week. He mom had to bring her down yesterday so as she said "Granny can take care of me, I need to feel better" LOL. She spent the night with me and we got lots of loving and petting in she left after lunch. It is so hard not to see her EVERY day when she is feeling bad but I am adjusting Maybe. She did not have any fever last night but after lunch it began to peak again.
It is soooo very good to have you back.
I would bet that just being with you made her feel better...Please keep us updated with what's going on with her...We know how you worry about her...and you know how we worry about you!

In the kitchen, we have containers with compostable bags for food, pet & human hair, bones, egg shells...all the good stuff. Hey guys...We have an endless parade of lizards visiting us at the moment. The weather is just starting to warm up around here and there are a lot of bearded dragons sitting on top of my fence posts around my paddock bobbing their heads in an effort to attract a female. We had a brown snake under our verandah the other day and me and my girls were freaking out! The poor snake just stopped and looked at us like 'what the hell are you guys screaming at?!" It was quite funny really. But seriously, we can't have them around here coz if my dog got bitten I would freak. He is a pure bred Red English Staffordshire Terrier and he is the son I never had. He loves to be friends with everything and everyone and he would just go up to a snake to say hello. Thats all it would take...one quick strike and he's bitten. Plus, with my horses feed I have to make sure that I keep the mice away. Mice = snakes!! We respectfully call my partner Shane Steve after Steve Irwin as he absolutely adores everything reptile!! Our five year old daughter Sienna follows him around our property as they go lizard spotting. He teaches her all about them and I feel that he is helping to instill in her a great respect for all living things. Anyway, I hope everyone is well. It's school holidays here at the moment and my kids turn into eating machines so I have to keep the pantry well stocked!! Take care all! :seeya:

:seeya:

these are called PINCHOS believe me they are mouthwatering, there is a chain of restaurants that serve them as soon as they come out of the kitchen and th waiter brings them to the tables and everyone chooses which ones they want, the bill is charged according to the amount of toothpicks on your plate!

I have heard of Haggis. I don't know what it is, but I have heard that word somewhere. I guess I had better google. Be right back!
Holy sh--. There is no way on this earth you would get me to eat this. What is wrong with you people. Have you never heard of normal food??????
Haggis somewhat resembles stuffed intestines (pig intestines otherwise known as chitterlings or the kokoretsi of traditional Greek cuisine), sausages and savoury puddings of which it is among the largest types. As the 2001 English edition of the Larousse Gastronomique puts it, "[a]lthough its description is not immediately appealing, haggis has an excellent nutty texture and delicious savoury flavour." (p592)
Most modern commercial haggis outside Scotland is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach. There are also meat-free recipes for vegetarians: these are designed to taste like the meat-based recipes

Oh ga.... I have started to read the thread backwards and came across your posts abut your granddaughter. Hope she is doing better and wanted you to know that I have added her to my prayers! Have to admit -- not raising my hand either. Oysters? Ugh! LOL!
gac: BTW -- I am not from the South but my hubby is from NC -- does that count? :)
Rocky Mountain Oysters Recipe
2 pounds calf testicles*
2 cups beer
2 eggs, beaten
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup yellow cornmea1
Salt and ground black pepper to taste
Vegetable oil**
1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
* Be sure to ask your butcher for calf testicles, not bull testicles. Calf testicles are the size of a walnut and are much more tender than the larger bull testicles.
** Use enough vegetable oil to fill your frying container halfway to the top (to allow for bubbling up and splattering) and to completely cover calf testicles while frying.
With a very sharp knife, split the tough skin-like muscle that surrounds each testicle. Remove the skin (you can remove the skin easily if the testicles are frozen, then peel while thawing). Slice each testicle into approximately ¼- to ½- inch-thick ovals. Place slices in a large pan or blow with enough beer to cover them; cover and let sit 2 hours.
In a shallow bowl, combine eggs, flour, cornmeal, salt, and pepper. Remove testicles from beer; drain and dredge thoroughly in the flour mixture. In a large, deep pot, heat oil to 375 degrees F. Deep fry 3 minutes or until golden brown (will rise to the surface when done). Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with your favorite hot pepper sauce.
I just thought since so many of you eat stuff that I wouldn't put in my mouth, I would share a delicacy from my part of the country!! And no, I have never eaten them. I can't get past the smell of them. IMO, it is just gross.

Oh, not too big. But they are hell funny to watch. Especially when a couple of males have a fight over territory! When you go up to them to say hello, they stay really still coz in their reptilian minds they believe that if they are still you can't see them!! I just went for the best most relaxing ride on my horse! Thank God for the warmer weather. I went out on the roads and around the block (which is about 6kms). It is just heaven up here...I look to my left and I see the ocean, and I look to my right and I see the mountains. I really needed to get out instead of just working my horse in the paddock...gets a bit boring. I have to really make the effort to take him out more often. I think the people around here think I am a bit insane :o coz when I get bored while I am out riding on the roads, I talk to the animals like the sheep in the paddocks that I pass. I have come home starving though and all these pics of food are driving me crazy! We are having Nachos for tea tonight. Haven't had them in a while so I am looking forward to pigging out!! Well I am off to feed my horses their tea. Take care!! :)

this board? If you don't want to part with it I totally understand, but just
in case ~~ :-D...how cute would that bee!! Actually, I don't have a clue
as to the technicalities of how to get it (it? that little picture beside my name) working, but if I can, may I?

ROF LMAO!!!!
The description of how you have to cut them, sends chills down my spine!!!!! With a very sharp knife, split the tough skin-like muscle that surrounds each testicle. Remove the skin (you can remove the skin easily if the testicles are frozen, then peel while thawing). Slice each testicle into approximately ¼- to ½- inch-thick ovals.
Male posters are cringing!

How about Squid?
Original recipe of
The Honorable Howard Coble
United States Congressman, North Carolina
When I was a youngster, my mom used to prepare Brains N' Eggs for breakfast. It was a fairly regular breakfast, not at all unusual. So that's when I started eating them. I've enjoyed them ever since, but I can't find any on Capitol Hill. I'll admit the name of the dish is not the most appetizing, but try 'em, you might like 'em!
Ingredients
2-1/2 Tablespoons bacon grease
4 eggs
1/3 cup whole milk
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 can (5 ounce) pork brains in gravy (Rose Brand preferred)
fresh brains can be used
Melt bacon grease in an iron skillet on low heat. Add pork brains to heated grease. Stir with a fork. Add salt and pepper and stir. Whisk eggs and milk together. Increase heat and add egg mixture to brains. Scramble to desired consistency. Serve immediately over toast. For a truly southern dish, serve with grits and apple butter.
Serves: 2

Hey CB!! You just let me know if you are moving here haha! We bought our 4.3 acres just before the market went crazy. We only paid $24,000 for our land but now that much land here sells for about $90,000! Yep, we do see some beautiful birds. There are some gorgeous brightly coloured parrots but I love watching the eagles and the hawks. They hover in one spot looking for a meal and sometimes one will land on my fence and just sit and watch. As for the other critters, there have been quite a few kangaroos getting around. I think they have come down from the hills searching for water. The drought is really bad here. The hills still look beautiful and green though as they are completely covered in gum trees and such. I am really in my 'sweet spot' here and I am sure I was a country girl in a past life. There is no better place to be than here if you are an animal lover or a 'horsey' person!! My Mum is coming to stay for a few days next week so I am pumped. I just love it when she is here...plus we go shopping!! ;) Take care. :)

:( Yep...the fires are in NSW. Scarey huh. A few years ago there were major fires around Pt. Lincoln. My Mum is from there and a lot of the places where she used to go where destroyed. People died. It is a scary time every summer. My friend Deb is in the Country Fire Service and she told me about a fire here once where she could see the flames on the ridge of the hills. I would freak! To all my family here, thank you! Gwen will be so pleased and happy. Tara's step-mom did something real special for Gwen just before she became sick and I thank her for remembering my Granddaughter when I know her heart is breaking for Tara. You guys are tops and to think I been putting pictures to those disgusting foods~~~I must do better~~~~naw you'll must love me like I am, lol. Please know how much you have touched my heart.
I would like for us all to remember to include all our family here in this special time, we have all gone through a lot of late. Warm&Cozy lost her beloved Jakey today and she might be away for a few days, remember her. Our pets mean a lot to us all and it seems they always leave us to soon.
To Athena and all you guys I love you and I really mean this, you are a real part of my life and I appreciate you all.

A Cat died and went to Heaven.
A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the Golden Gate and said, "You have been a good cat all these years. Anything you want is yours for the asking."
The cat thought a minute and then said, "All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on.
"God said, "Say no more." Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow.
A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven at the same time. God met the mice at the Gates of Heaven with the same offer that he made the cat. The mice said, "Well, we have had to run all of our lives, from cats, dogs and even people with brooms. If we could just have some little roller skates, we would never have to run again."
God answered, "It is done." All the mice had beautiful little roller skates.
About a week later God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow. God gently awakened the cat and asked, "Is every thing OK? How have you been doing? Are you happy?"
The cat replied, "Oh it is wonderful. I have never been so happy in my life. My pillow is so fluffy and those little meals on wheels you have been sending are delicious!"
Dallas, I thought you would like this...I can see my Frank now!

Smart Cat
A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park.
As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.
The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home.
Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!
He kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.
Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Is the cat there?"
"Yes", the wife answers, "Why do you ask?"
Frustrated, the man answered, "Put him on the phone, I'm lost and need directions!"

Dear Dogs and Cats,
The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort. Dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.
The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough!
To pacify you, my dear pets, I have posted the following message on our front door:
*Rules for Non-Pet Owners Who Visit and Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
Dogs and cats are better than kids...they eat less, don't ask for money all the time, are easier to train, usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends, don't smoke or drink, don't worry about having to buy the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, and don't need a gazillion dollars for college - and if they get pregnant, you can sell the child.
I am so thrilled that you "Gwennie" feels better. :rose:
OK guys -- I say we all get together Sunday morning at 11AM and say a group prayer to speed Gwen's recovery and help Grandma out.
If you can't make it to the board 'tis OK. Just think the prayers!!!!
I can make it and will be glad to do so. That is right after church, so I will light a candle for Gwen and a candle for Tara and a candle for Maddy and a candle for Mishell's sister and a candle for Dallasvic and a candle for whomever else who needs one and then I can come on board. Goodness, I hope the church doesn't catch on fire with all those candles I will be a lightin'!!!
For real??? Pigs feet in tomato sauce?
I read that and the first thought that came to my head - geeze louise, that must look like the feet are bleeding!!

Good morning all. Will be leaving soon to go see my son's first college scrimmage game. :)
This is exactly why we love ya ga. You think of others even with your concern for your precious granddaughter, Gwennie.
Prayers go a long way -- we can pray for Dallas' rib, Warm&Cozy's pet, Mishell's sister and everyone else here who has gone through some turmoil in their lives. God Bless CL and all of our faceless friends. :rose:
