Yes the system is broken and many things are messed up. That being said there are also many things that do work. You can make a difference, and a big one at that, get involved, go be a voice in court for these kids. http://www.casanet.org/, or http://texascasa.org/
Most counties nationwide will have their own CASA program you can join. Too often kids will get lost in the system, and their CASA will be the only one constant in their lives, the one they come to count on most.
April has been dedicated National Child Abuse Prevention month, make it a point to get involved, and spread the word.
