Description of Incident:

Seven people were shot and wounded early today (Saturday) at a Pompano Beach strip club.

BSO deputies were dispatched to a report of shots fired at the Synn City nightclub at 1:13 a.m. Upon arrival, they saw a 17-year-old suspect firing a handgun into the air. He was taken into custody by the deputies without incident. Deputies secured the area and found two security guards and three club patrons who had been shot and wounded. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue units treated the five victims and transported them to North Broward Medical Center. Two additional gunshot victims from the club arrived at the hospital on their own, bringing the total number of victims to seven. At last report, all victims are in stable condition.

The incident remains under investigation. The shooting started after a female rapper named “Trina” arrived at the club for a scheduled appearance. A fight started inside the club and one shot was fired. Security guards removed several people involved in the fracas and numerous additional shots were fired outdoors, resulting in the guards and customers being wounded. Several people were detained and questioned. The one 17-year-old juvenile was arrested on a charge of discharging a firearm in public and two existing warrants for battery.

A cursory review of calls for service over the past six months reveals several incidents at Synn City, including three disturbance calls (one with shots fired and no one hurt), one robbery and one battery.
