Information on Trolley Square Shooting
This is a summary of information that has been released by the Salt Lake City Police Department
Location: Trolley Square Mall, 700 East 500 South
Occurred: February 12, 2007
At approximately 6:44 p.m., the police communications office received a call of an active shooter at the Trolley Square Mall on the corner of 700 East 500 South. At 6:47 p.m. several Salt Lake City Police officers arrived and heard gunshots inside the mall. They immediately established an Emergency Action Team to address the threat. The officers entered the mall and were joined by an off-duty Ogden City Police Officer. They located the shooter and engaged in gunfire killing the suspect.
Officers from several jurisdictions responded and assisted during the incident. A Unified Command was established to address the many needs during this tragic incident.
The casualty information is listed below:
Five victims were fatally shot at the scene
Two 28 year old females
A 15 year old girl
A 52 year old male A 24 year old male
Four people were injured and transported to local hospitals
A 53 year old male - critical but stable
A 34 year old male - serious but stable
A 44 year old female - critical but stable
A male adult – serious but stable
Suspect information:
18 year old male
Resident of Salt Lake City
Fatally shot at the scene.
A handgun and shotgun were found on the suspect, along with numerous rounds of live ammunition.
Assistance is being offered by Valley Mental Health to anyone who witnessed this incident or feels they need support. Valley Mental Health can be contacted at 261-1442.
