I've just re-read the Dec. 26 search warrant. Hasn't anyone noticed that the search warrant says that Fleet White and John Fernie accompanied JR into the basement when JB was found? Why has this never been mentioned elsewhere? Is this an error? The search warrant also states that JB was found wearing a light colored turtleneck shirt. That had to be an error. How many NOTs or "huh's?" can you find in the Dec. 26th or other search warrants?

I don't know if you followed the van Dam trial but it was astonishing (and frightening) how often witnesses got on the stand and said police reports etc were wrong.

It always surprises me when someone starts a thread and says, has anyone ever heard this before, and it is something I have known or read about many, many months before. I mean no offense at all tww, but I think I have 3 or 4 links that state Fernie went with White and Ramsey to the basement. I usually don't start threads because I figure if I know about it, surely everyone else does.

During all the confusion after JBRs body was found I do not believe it was realized at the time that Fernie did NOT accompany JR & FW to the basement. According to PMPT pgs 17-18, Linda Arndt asked FW & JF to take JR to search the house. John Fernie stayed on the ground floor while JR & FW went into the basement. I believe the search warrant's statements were based upon a statement that Arndt gave saying she asked all of them to search the house. Although Fernie followed he never went downstairs.
I should have added to my post that I do not believe that Fernie was in the basement when Fleet and JR went down there. Sorry if I caused any confusion. :o

Sorry, Zoey, but I've read tons of things about this case and I guess I didn't notice this before when I read the search warrant or had forgotten it. I just started following this and researching it when JMK was arrested. Before that, I only knew the basics.
Another thing in the search warrant is the mention of 2 blankets being seen in the wine cellar. I'm sure you already know about that too and I've known about it for a while. It just makes you wonder if these things are facts or errors. The LE has to be holding some things back from the public, don't you think? But if these are just errors, it just makes the BPD look all the more inept.

I think it's an error. In looking through John's interviews there is no instance of LE asking what Fernie was doing when John was in the cellar but Fleets name does come up. For instance:
1997
JR: Ah, well, I remember they took me aside, and we sat in John Andrew’s room which is the one next to JonBenet’s and she went through what I should do when we talked to the caller and I must insist that I talk to JonBenet and that we need until 5 o’clock to raise the money. I’d actually called my (inaudible) and arranged for the money. Ah, and I think we had by that time started to wonder if one of the housekeepers might be involved. And there was some activity around that direction. We waited until past 11 and then we, and then I think we were in the living room and Linda said why don’t you take someone and look through the house and see if there’s anything you notice that’s unusual. And Fleet and I, Fleet was standing there and said he’d go with me. And we went down to the basement, went into the train room, which is, you know, the train set is, and that’s really the only window that’s, would let in entrance into he basement. And actually I’d gone down there earlier that morning, into that room, and the window was broken, but I didn’t see any glass around, so I assumed it was broken last summer. I used that window to get into the house when (inaudible) I didn’t have a key. But the window was open, about an eighth of an inch, and just kind latched it. So I went back down with Fleet, we looked around for some glass again, still didn’t see any glass. And I told him that I thought that the break came from when I did that last summer and then, then I went from there into the cellar. Pull on the door, it was latched. I reach up and unlatched it, and then I saw the white blanket, (inaudible).
[…]
TT: I know this is (inaudible) after you found JonBenet, and (inaudible) if you would, where was Fleet at when that happened?
JR: I don’t remember. We never, I was, I was, Fleet was behind me, but I don’t remember him going from that point to when I brought her upstairs. He might have been right behind me, I just was so . . .
[…]
ST: OK. And then moved to your daughter. Did Fleet accompany you into that room?
[…]
TT: Did he say anything or was he just . . .
JR: No, he was just screaming for attention, I guess. As I was . . .
ST: And at that point, and certainly I can understand this, you don’t know necessarily where Fleet was positioned. Do you recall coming out of the room and seeing Fleet at all?
JR: Coming, I don’t remember that.
ST: OK. Do you recall when you went up the stairs, Fleet being upstairs at that point?
JR: No, I don’t remember. At the point I saw the blanket until I laid her on the floor, I don’t remember where Fleet was.
ST: And did you ever make a second trip, you never went back down to the basement, is that correct?
JR: That’s correct.
ST: And on the morning of the 26th, you made one trip alone to the basement, and it was only on the second trip with Fleet that you, then shortly thereafter that you went to this basement room?

Funny, Fleet couldn't see the body, but he took off upstairs.
Wasn't he curious if she was dead or alive?
Good thing he did a run through on calling 911 from the Ramseys home on the 23rd!

Umm....he didn't see the body unless he was right behind JR when JR turned on the lights but he heard JR "scream" so he ran upstairs to call 911. What's so weird about that? I would guess he freaked out and his first thought was to get help. I don't know what you find so suspicious about that.
I also don't know why you would think he would need to do a "run through" call to estimate the time the police would come. Maybe if you explained your line of thought it would help.

There used to be a public forum on MSN regarding the murder of JB. It was opened up when Karr was arrested. It pretty much shut down due to trolls and trouble makers. Anyway, the two blankets were discussed in detail on that board. To be honest, I don't remember all that was discussed about them, but I do remember someone brought up that there was two blankets on the search warrants.
IMO, I would hope that they are holding information back from the public, so that when the real killer is found, there will be information that only he would know and it will make the case.
IMO, I think it would be really hard for any police department to remember ever detail of any crime. Although I think the BPD was very inept, it had to have been pretty overwhelming for them. Details could have easily been confused and forgotten.

I posted about the blankets on MSN. :D
People thought I had "inside information" and that I was possibly someone from LE.

WW1, exactly! Because we don't know everything that is held in evidence and because we don't know about typos and/or errors made by BPD, we can't be 100% sure of what we do know. Frustration is mounting. Ahhhh if only (fill in the blank) _______________________________ :o

I hope that you set them straight on that, because in this case, it would not be a compliment!
